Body Architecture
2019

How can we build spaces, not with stones or other construction materials but with our bodies? Which meaningful social environments do we shape that way?

The workshop explored the capabilities of the human body as materiality in the design of spatial environments. The group investigated the inherent features of architecture, deconstructed and reassembled complex relations, both visible and invisible. Through exercises that provoked “embodied reflection” they analysed how these physical spaces differ in experience and feeling from build everyday life environment, and what this might tell in return about architecture practices.

The workshop was a collaboration with Lucas Maassen and 1st year students, MA Social Design, Design Academy Eindhoven. The results were presented as part of the exhibition “The Object is Absent” at MU Artspace Eindhoven, 2019.
