Excavating the Family Tree of the Invisible
2021
“Our park is also only a small part in the bigger picture.”*
The collective performance explores and rethinks the personal and political relations between humans and nature and envisions a practice of solidarity rooted in collective reflection and care. Point of departure built stories of the invisible suffering of the park’s fauna, amplified by the dead of two of the biggest and oldest trees due to parasites and water shortage in recent years. Designed as a circular ritual that breaks down the mind body separation through motion and voice, its activation invites participants to confront the self, live the lessons and experience their own embodied journeys in connection to nature and climate change.
The collective performance was developed in collaboration with Alena Stuhr as part of the workshop “Solidarity is a verb.” at DESIGN CAMPUS 2021, Kunstgewerbemuseum Dresden.
